Head of Institutional Solutions

Sean Kurian, FSA, CAIA, is a Managing Director and Head of Institutional Solutions at Conning where he is responsible for the structuring and derivatives implementation of investment solutions for its institutional clients. Prior to joining Conning, Mr. Kurian was with J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he was the Lead Structuring Specialist & Derivatives Portfolio Manager for the LDI Solutions Group, developing investment solutions for pension plans and insurance companies. He was also responsible for Towers Watson’s Structured Solutions group in the Americas prior to his role at JP Morgan Asset Management and has also managed Towers’ equivalent team in Europe earlier on in his career. Mr. Kurian serves on the FTSE U.S. Bond Index Committee (responsible for the FTSE(/Citi) U.S. bond index range) and has served on a number of professional bodies. He is a media spokesperson and technical expert with respect to financial risk management, derivatives and pensions investment. Mr. Kurian is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in the U.S., a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) in the U.K., holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation and the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation. He is a graduate of Christ Church, University of Oxford with a Master’s degree in Mathematical Finance and has 24 years of industry experience.
